Fenomena Penggunaan Air Yasin sebagai Media Spiritual: Kajian Living Qur’an di Rumah Suluk Besilam Kab. Langkat

Abstract

This study examines the phenomenon of the use of Yasin Water as a spiritual medium from the perspective of Living Qur'an at Rumah Suluk Besilam, Langkat Regency. The practice of using Yasin Water represents a form of community interaction with the Qur'an that has developed and been passed down through generations. The purpose of this study is to explore the foundations of the practice, its implementation process, and the community's understanding of Yasin Water as a spiritual medium. This research employs a qualitative method using the Living Qur'an approach and the theory of Qur'anic reception. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews with religious leaders and members of the Besilam community, as well as documentation and literature studies. The findings reveal that Yasin Water is prepared through the collective recitation of Surah Yasin, Surah Al-Fatihah, Surah Al-Ikhlas, Surah Al-Insyirah, dhikr, and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (shalawat) over water. The community perceives Yasin Water as a means (wasilah) to obtain blessings, inner peace, protection, and as an effort to seek healing from Allah SWT. From the Living Qur'an perspective, this practice represents a functional reception of the Qur'an, where the Qur'an is not only recited as a ritual act of worship but is also internalized and practiced in the social and religious life of the community. This study concludes that the use of Yasin Water at Rumah Suluk Besilam is a manifestation of Living Qur'an, demonstrating how the Qur'an is lived, understood, and practiced within society as a spiritual medium while maintaining the belief that all benefits and healing ultimately come from Allah SWT.
